Mail app overview

All plans

The Mail app has seven tabs, and they cover three genuinely different things — your own personal inbox, a real business inbox for your domain, and marketing/ automation tools. This page is the map: what each tab actually is, and which of the other Email docs go deeper on each one.

This page exists because the individual tabs are well documented on their own, but nothing previously explained how they relate — e.g. that {{company}} in Personalization variables refers to a field you set per-contact in the Contacts tab, not something BlnkSpace fills in automatically. If a term on another page doesn’t make sense, come back here first.

The seven tabs

Inbox (the personal Gmail tab) is currently unavailable. It shows a heads-up in the app instead of your mail. Everything else on this page still applies — use Domain Inbox for anything you need to send or receive right now.
TabWhat it is
Inbox personal unavailableCurrently unavailable. When live, this connects your own Gmail account and views it inside BlnkSpace — your personal email, not your business/domain email, with nothing sent or received here stored on BlnkSpace’s servers.
Domain Inbox businessA real inbox for addresses on your own connected sending domain (e.g. support@yourbrand.com) — customer replies to order confirmations, campaign replies, and anything else sent to a receiving address land here. This IS stored in BlnkSpace, since it’s your business inbox, not a personal account.
ContactsYour list of people to email — name, email, company, and which lists they belong to. This is where {{firstName}}/{{company}}/etc. actually get their values from. Add contacts manually or import a CSV.
CampaignsOne-off or scheduled sends to a list or a set of contacts — newsletters, announcements, promotions. Pick a template, choose recipients, send.
Automations“When X happens, send Y” rules that fire on their own — no manual send needed. Currently supports firing on inactivity, a delay after joining a list, or an engagement-score change (see the callout below).
TemplatesReusable email designs — build once, reuse in Campaigns, Automations, or welcome emails. Two editors exist side by side (classic and a newer beta one); either works for reused templates.
SettingsConnect your sending domain (via Resend), configure sender identities, set up auto-reply, and manage domain-level email infrastructure.

Inbox vs. Domain Inbox — the distinction that trips people up

These are the two most-confused tabs, so worth spelling out directly:

InboxDomain Inbox
Whose emailYours personally (Gmail) — currently unavailableYour business/brand (your connected sending domain)
Where it livesGoogle’s servers — BlnkSpace just displays itBlnkSpace’s database
Who else sees itJust youAnyone with access to your BlnkSpace account

Setting things up, in order

If you’re starting from nothing, this is the order that actually works — skipping ahead usually just means backtracking:

  1. Connect your sending domain via Resend — Setting up email (Resend). Nothing else below works without this.
  2. (Optional) Set up additional sender identities if you send from more than one address — Sender identities.
  3. Add contacts (or import a CSV) in the Contacts tab.
  4. Build a template in the Templates tab, or just compose directly in Campaigns.
  5. Use personalization variables to make each recipient’s copy feel individual.
The engagement-score automation (fires when a contact’s score crosses a threshold, e.g. going “cold” to “hot”) depends on Resend actually detecting opens/clicks — which requires open/click tracking to be turned on for your domain in Resend’s own dashboard (Domains → tracking settings), separate from anything in BlnkSpace. If that automation type never seems to fire, check there first.
