Phone layout
A Freeform page is designed on a wide canvas. On phones it is automatically rearranged into one readable column, top to bottom - you don't have to build a second version.
How the phone version is built
- Reading order - sections are read top to bottom, and side-by-side columns card by card (image, title, text of the first card, then the second).
- Backgrounds stay behind - a panel, image or 3D scene that other items sit on becomes the background of its section on the phone, with those items on top of it.
- Small items share a row - rows of links, logos or badges wrap side by side instead of taking a line each.
- Sizing - text runs full width, buttons keep their size, images and videos keep their proportions, very large headlines are scaled down so they fit.
- Frames - a frame with Stack on phones lays its contents out as a column; any other frame keeps its design and is shrunk to fit the screen.
- Moving strips - a frame holding a sideways-scrolling strip (Loop → Scroll sideways) isn't shrunk: it runs edge to edge at its real size, so the names stay readable.
- 3D scenes keep working and keep the framing you designed on desktop.
Previewing
Click Desktop on the toolbar to switch it to Phone. The canvas is replaced by a phone-sized preview drawn exactly the way phones will get it. The preview is read-only - switch back to Desktop to move things.
Adjusting the phone version
Hide on phone
Properties → Layout. Leaves the item out of the phone version only - handy for decorative pieces that don’t fit a small screen.
On phones: Earlier / Later
Properties → Layout. Moves the item one place up or down within its group in the phone column.
Stack on phones
Properties → Frame (rows and columns). Turns a row into a column on phones.
Phone layout (page)
With nothing selected, Properties → Page. Switch it off to show phones the desktop design scaled down instead - useful for poster-style pages.
Phones get the phone version straight away, before the page has finished loading, and a desktop browser window made narrow switches to it too. Tablets see the desktop design.
