Freeform (Canvas Engine)
Freeform is a second way to build a page. Instead of stacking blocks top to bottom, you place every item exactly where you want it - drag it anywhere, resize it, layer it over other items - and the page remembers. What you see in the editor is exactly what visitors see.
Freeform is in beta and available on paid plans - look for the Freeform button (marked Beta) at the top of any page. It's ready to build and publish real pages with, and we're still adding to it. Your block page is always kept, so you can switch back at any time.
What “beta” means right now
- Some blocks don't carry over yet. Switching a page shows which ones - for example forms, FAQs, carousels, bento grids and product displays. They stay safely on the block side; bringing them into Freeform is next on our list.
- Your site's navbar and footer aren't shown on Freeform pages yet. Build a header and footer on the page itself (frames with the Header and Footer roles) in the meantime.
- Changes reach visitors within about a minute after you edit a published page.
- Glass bending shows in Chrome and Edge; other browsers show frosted glass.
Blocks or Freeform?
Every page can use either. The block page is never deleted when you try Freeform, so you can switch back any time.

Switching a page to Freeform

Open the page
Open any page you own in the editor.

Click Freeform
Click the Freeform button at the top right. A dialog shows how many of your current items will carry over.

Confirm
Your block content is copied into a new Freeform layout. Anything Freeform can't show yet is listed and stays safely on the block side.
To go back, click the Freeform button again. Your Freeform layout is kept - switching again brings it back exactly as you left it. When you switch back, you can choose to copy your Freeform text changes into the blocks.
Undo and safety nets
- Undo / redo - every change can be undone (
Ctrl + Z,Ctrl + Shift + Z). - Autosave - changes save as you work. If the page was changed in another tab, Freeform stops and asks you to reload instead of overwriting.
- Undo last conversion - in the Freeform ▾ menu on the toolbar. Restores the page to how it was before the last switch.
- Re-import from blocks - also in the Freeform ▾ menu. Replaces the Freeform layout with a fresh copy of your blocks (and can be undone).
