Collections
A Collection lets you design ONE card and have it repeat automatically for every real page you've published - a blog's latest posts, a portfolio, an events list. Add a new post later and it appears on the card's page with no further editing.
# link that goes nowhere. A Collection is what makes the cards real. How it works
A frame becomes a Collection. Its first child is the card template - you design it however you like, out of ordinary Freeform items (an image, a title, a description, anything). Every other item inside that first child is bound to a field from the real page it represents. When the page is published, the server repeats your one template once per matching post, each copy filled with that post's own data.
Add a frame, then add the items that make up one card inside it (an image, a title, a description). Design it exactly how you want every card to look - this one frame IS the template for all of them.
Select the OUTER frame (the one holding your card) → Properties → Collection (list pages) → check "Fill from pages". Choose This page's sub-pages (or Pages I choose for a hand-picked list), an order (Newest first, Most viewed, …), how many to show, and whether to skip the first (useful when a separate "Featured" card already shows the newest post).
Select the image, title or description INSIDE the template → a new "Fill from post" section appears → choose which field it shows (Title, Description, Date, Category, View count, Cover image, Position). Check "Link to the post" on any of them to make that piece a link to the real page.
Set the outer frame's Arrange contents to Grid (a wrapping grid of cards) or Carousel (a swipeable row) so the repeated cards actually lay out side by side - see Frames & layout.
What you can bind
| Field | Works on | Shows |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Text | The post's title. |
| Description | Text | The post's description. |
| Date | Text | The date the post was created. |
| Category | Text | The post's category (set in that page's own Page settings). |
| View count | Text | How many times that post has been viewed (needs real traffic to show anything). |
| Position (01, 02…) | Text | A running number - handy for a "Most read" numbered list. |
| Cover image | Image, or a FRAME’s own background fill | The post's cover photo (or its SEO image if it has no cover). |
What the editor shows vs. the real page
Open the real published page - or /freeform-preview/… while still unpublished - to see Collections actually working. The editor itself only shows a raw, unbound preview of your design (your placeholder text, not real post data) for the template item - only the LOCKED preview cards after it pull real data in the editor. This is expected, not a bug: the template is still being designed, so it keeps showing what you typed. The published page always binds every card correctly, including the first one.
Common mistakes
| What you'll see | Why, and what to do |
|---|---|
| Title and description text overlapping on the card | A fixed-height text box clips real (longer) text once it wraps to 2+ lines. Turn on "Fit height to content" on the title AND the description (Properties → Layout) - this fixes it permanently for every post, however long the real title turns out to be. |
| The template card shows my placeholder text, not a real post | That's the editor-only behaviour above, not a bug - check the real published page or /freeform-preview/ instead. |
| Corner radius on the cover image does nothing | Fixed in October 2026 - make sure you're on a build after that date. A rounded image needs the box to also CLIP its content, which is now automatic whenever you set a Corner radius on an image (or any non-frame item). |
| Can't drag to resize a card inside a grid | A grid cell’s size comes from the GRID’s shared settings, not the card’s own box - drag the small blue handle at the card’s bottom-right corner to change how many columns/rows IT covers, or change the grid’s own "Row height" (Properties, on the outer frame) to resize every card at once. |
| Dragging an item to reorder it inside a card does nothing | Fixed in October 2026 - dropping into empty space below the last item now counts as “move to the end” instead of silently failing. |
| I can't find how to add a new item inside an existing card | Select the frame (or any item already inside it) BEFORE pressing an "Add" button on the toolbar - the new item is now added as a child of whatever you had selected. If nothing relevant is selected, it lands at the top level instead; drag it in, or use the "Parent frame" dropdown (Properties → Layout) to reassign it afterwards. |
| No alignment options when a frame is set to Grid | Fixed in October 2026 - "Spread"/"Line up" now work for grid frames too (they centre an item within its own cell, rather than across the whole row the way they do for a Row/Column frame). |
| The category filter chips do nothing / show no categories | A category only exists once it’s set on that page’s own Page settings ("Category" field) - the chips are built from whatever categories your real posts actually have. |
Current limits
- "This page's sub-pages" only ever means DIRECT children of the Collection's own page - there is no way yet to point a Collection at a specific SUB-FOLDER several levels down (for example, a "Kuching" sub-page whose own children are Kuching-specific posts) and have it list only those. Today's two source options are the current page's own direct sub-pages, or a hand-picked list of specific pages (Pages I choose) - the latter works as a manual workaround but doesn't auto-update as new posts are added underneath that sub-folder.
- Every repeated card is currently the same size. Mixing card sizes within one auto-propagating Collection (e.g. a bento-style grid where one post's card is 2×2 and the rest are 1×1) isn't supported yet - a grid Collection’s cards all come from the same one template, so they all repeat at that template's span.
- Collections list real PAGES today, not products or other record types - a collection of products from the Product CMS, for example, isn't built yet.
